Easy Pita Bread

Hello friends!

This post will be short and sweet (not really sweet, no), but just so that you have a recipe that's a piece of cake to make (no, we really need more savoury idioms)...

Well, this is a really fun and easy way to make pita bread! Especially if you live abroad, you already know how hard it is to get your hands on good pita bread. I was so excited to make this and was even more excited that it was a success. I know I'm not getting the store-bought stuff again!

Here we go:

1 cup of self-raising flour

1/2 cup of milk

salt

Yes! That's it - believe it or not.

It really is that much easy.

So a cup of flour makes about 3 pitas. Double or triple the amount if you are having friends over (you really want to make this to your friends!) or if you need to have a quick snack with you the next day (I kept a few in the fridge and they were perfectly good and fresh and yummy).

So take the flour, put it in a bowl. Take a deep breath, pause if you like, because it will be ready before you know it.

Add a pinch of salt. If you like, some herbs: I like garlic powder, oregano and thyme.

Heat up the milk for just a few seconds - don't overheat it! We just don't want it to be cold, that's all.

Stir well until a soft sticky dough forms. Take it out of the bowl and put it on a surface with some more flour to roll it. Take a rolling pin and sprinkle some flour to open the pitas. Add just enough flour if they are still sticky, but not too much!

Heat a pan and throw them in. I used a non-stick pan and they are amazing without any oil at all.

Serve with some fries, some feta cheese and tomato with olive oil and oregano or anything you like. I think I will be making some tzatziki to pair them! Enjoy!
